On the second day of the new century, my father, David Blaustein died....I had a sense of great loss which took in the painful realization that I would never see him again, and yet—and this is why I am writing this article—I also felt tremendous gratitude for the true friendship we came to have in these past years.

People all over the country are outraged at what senior citizens must pay for prescription drugs....I was shocked hearing a PBS report about the enormous prices senior citizens pay .... Seniors go to Canada or Native-American reservations to buy drugs--for cancer, diabetes, pain as real as yours and mine!

We are saddened by the personal accounts of individuals who are directly affected: a father who doesn't know how he will be able to meet mortgage payments on his home, the husband who suddenly lost all his company health benefits just as his wife became seriously ill, a woman nearing retirement age, whose 401(k) plan is now worthless.
